- Vernon Museum & Archives, 3009 32nd Avenue. Admission is by donation.
- Vernon Public Art Gallery, 3228 31st Avenue. Admission is by donation, and the gallery shop is a good spot for local gifts.

Everyday grocery runs
Full-size grocery stores are a short drive away, both near downtown and in Vernon's larger shopping areas. From upper East Hill, most people drive for a big weekly shop. From lower East Hill, a smaller top-up shop on foot is realistic.
Vernon Farmers' Market
From April through October, the Vernon Farmers' Market runs Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the back parking lot of Kal Tire Place, 3445 43rd Avenue. The market says it can be reached on BC Transit's Route 3. An indoor market also runs at the same address in some seasons; check the market's website for dates.
Farm stands and orchards
Davison Orchards on Davison Road is a family farm that has been operating since 1933. It's open from May 1 to October 31, with a farm market, bakery, café and U-pick apples and pumpkins in season. Admission is free.

- Vernon Jubilee Hospital is just down the hill from East Hill. That's a real convenience for families, retirees and anyone who works shifts there.
