Vernon Winter Carnival
The biggest event of the year. The modern Vernon Winter Carnival was founded in 1961, although Vernon held a winter festival as early as 1893. The Vernon Winter Carnival Society describes it as Western Canada's largest winter carnival, with over 100 community events across ten days, including parades, Balloon Glow nights, Family Fun Parks, snow sculpting and bed races.

Outdoor skating
Centennial Outdoor Rink (3409 35th Avenue) offers free public skating and shinny when the weather allows. It's a casual place to run into neighbours on a winter afternoon.

Canada Day in Polson Park
