For a wider view, try the Grey Canal Trail sections near the Coldstream Valley, or head to Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, which is open year-round for day use. It's a good season for hiking because the grasslands are cooler. Rattlesnakes live in the park, so stay on the trails.

The Vernon area has deep orchard roots. Lord and Lady Aberdeen introduced fruit orchards at the Coldstream Ranch in the early 1890s, and the valley has been a major fruit-growing region ever since.
Today, Davison Orchards on Davison Road, a family farm since 1933, is a popular fall outing. It's open until October 31, with U-pick apples and pumpkins, tractor-drawn orchard tours (Wednesday to Sunday in September and October), an animal barn, a bakery and a café. Farm admission is free, and orchard tours are extra.
Farmers' market
The Vernon Farmers' Market runs through October, Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kal Tire Place (3445 43rd Avenue). It's a good place to stock up on fall produce before the outdoor season ends.
Culture and community in the fall
- Culture Days: the Caetani Cultural Centre on Pleasant Valley Road hosts Culture Days programming. In 2026, it featured an immersive multidisciplinary exhibition running from September 18 to October 3.
- Galleries and theatre: the Vernon Public Art Gallery presents about 20 exhibitions a year, and the Powerhouse Theatre stages community productions.
- Transit changes: as of October 1, 2026, youth aged 13 to 18 can ride Vernon's local buses free with a valid Youth Pass, which helps with after-school activities.
