- East: toward the South BX and the District of Coldstream, as the hill rounds over and the lots get bigger.
- South: Highway 6 and 30th Avenue, Vernon's historic main street, which climbs the hill.
- North: roughly 43rd Avenue.
Because Vernon's streets are numbered, it helps to know the pattern: streets run north–south and avenues run east–west, and street numbers get lower as you head east. So an address on 20th Street or 15th Street is further up and further east than one on 27th Street.

- Campbell House, the 1898 Queen Anne Revival house with a corner tower at the top of 30th Avenue. The City's heritage register describes it as a landmark overlooking downtown from the top of the hill.

Upper and lower East Hill
You'll sometimes hear people talk about "lower" and "upper" East Hill. The City of Vernon's heritage register uses the same idea. It notes that the lower East Hill, close to the city core, became a fashionable place for prominent citizens to build in the 1890s, and that new subdivisions on the upper East Hill, such as Hillhead, Lakeview and Hillcrest, filled in during the growth years before 1913. After the Second World War, the "100 homes" were built on East Hill to ease a housing shortage.
In practical terms:
- Lower East Hill sits closest to downtown and Pleasant Valley Road. It has many of the oldest homes and the shortest walks to 30th Avenue.
- Upper East Hill sits higher up, with more early 20th-century and post-war houses and, in many spots, wider views over the valley.

- School catchment. Catchments follow School District 22's own maps, not neighbourhood names. Check any address with the district's school locator.
- Zoning and heritage status. Rules for suites, additions and redevelopment depend on the property's zoning. A few East Hill homes are also on the City's heritage register. Confirm the details with the City of Vernon.
- Slope and access. Homes higher up often have steeper driveways and more of a climb on foot. That matters for winter driving and daily walks.
